Job summary

MD Anderson Cancer Center, a leading cancer care, research, education, and prevention institution, seeks a Senior Public Safety Officer to lead the Public Safety team and ensure security across the healthcare campus. You will mentor officers, oversee essential security operations, and respond decisively in emergencies on the Northwest Houston campus.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree or higher, IAHSS certification, and proven leadership in team development.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Preferred: Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Texas Driver's License required; three years driving history preferred for waiver consideration.

Responsibilities

• Mentor, train, and evaluate Public Safety Officers.
• Provide guidance and support for team development and performance.
• Patrol property by vehicle and on foot to maintain a safe environment.
• Manage door screenings, access control, and lock/unlock procedures.
• Operate and monitor security technology systems; report issues.
• Handle morgue duty, package/animal deliveries, parking/traffic control.
• Assist motorists and provide escort services; relieve dispatchers when needed.
• Prepare accurate incident and departmental reports.
• Respond to calls and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Ensure compliance with institutional safety protocols.
