Job summary

The Boston Foundation seeks a Senior Program Officer, Health and Wellness to lead the implementation and evaluation of the foundation’s health strategy in Boston and Massachusetts. You will partner with the AVP to manage strategic initiatives, coordinate cross‑sector efforts, and drive initiatives to reduce obesity and improve health outcomes.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of relevant work experience required; Master's degree or equivalent preferred.
• Deep connection to and knowledge of public health systems and local Greater Boston communities.
• Knowledge of early childhood health in the state and federal policy context and funding systems is preferred.
• Deep knowledge of health and wellness issues and the social determinants affecting development; able to work across sectors.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to partner across fields, disciplines and sectors.
• Experience leading teams, supervising staff and consultants; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and evaluation of Health & Wellness strategies and investments.
• Oversee grantmaking, evaluation, and reporting; manage initiative outcomes.
• Collaborate with the Early Childhood and Education to Career teams to strengthen pediatric practices.
• Build and sustain partnerships with nonprofits, school districts, and community organizations.
• Identify opportunities to align health and housing initiatives with foundation goals.
• Represent the foundation in external forums and policy discussions.
