Job summary

Apple seeks a Senior Health Privacy Counsel to join its Privacy Legal team in Cupertino. You will advise on health privacy law, guide cross‑functional business, engineering and product teams, and help shape privacy by design across devices and services globally.

You will stay abreast of evolving health privacy regulations, coordinate internal investigations, and communicate complex regulatory requirements in clear, actionable terms to executives and engineers.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in health privacy law and/or health research.
• Knowledge of comprehensive privacy laws and regulatory guidance.
• Understanding of US health privacy laws and research-based requirements.
• Experience providing strategic advice to product, business, and engineering teams.
• JD or equivalent and admission to at least one US state bar.

You will work directly with business and engineering teams to design innovative privacy solutions for products as well as across the legal department on Apple activities and regulatory issues.

Description

You will be responsible for advising and providing support on privacy related aspects for various health and research projects and work alongside legal, engineering and business teams. This role will report through the Privacy Legal team and advise the business and engineering teams on cutting-edge health privacy issues.

Responsibilities

• Deep understanding of health and general privacy laws, regulations, requirements and industry best practices.
• Advising the business on legal, regulatory, and business standards.
• Supporting and monitoring a privacy program, as needed, to ensure that technology and business processes meet applicable legal requirements.
• Coordinating internal and external investigations, compliance reviews and monitoring activities.
• Identifying and communicating potential risks areas with leadership.
• Staying informed of and properly communicating any changes to or developments in privacy laws, regulations, standards, and guidance.

Minimum Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience (either at a major law firm and/or in-house) in health privacy law and/or health research.
• Knowledge of comprehensive privacy laws, and regulatory and other guidance and standards.
• Understanding of US state and federal sector-specific privacy laws, including health privacy laws, as well as research based laws and requirements.
• Experience providing strategic and practical advice to product, business, and engineering teams.
• Experience advising on regulatory compliance and inquiries.
• JD or equivalent and admission to at least one US state bar.

• Ability to lead, take action, and provide direction in the face of ambiguity.
• Experience quickly issue-spotting, analyzing, and clearly communicating privacy advice on complex legal issues.

• Strong analytical capability with attention to detail.
• Ability to partner at all levels of the organization.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $235,100 and $353,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
