Job summary

HDR is seeking a dedicated architecture professional focused on Health Planning to support projects through planning, design, and coordination. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience along with a Master's degree in Architecture and the capability to lead and mentor others.

This full-time position offers a comprehensive benefits package alongside a competitive salary range specifically for the New York location of $137,200 to $196,000 annually, ensuring both professional growth and personal well-being.

Job description

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide planning, design and coordination support on projects and pursuits
• Engage in problem solving, teamwork, critical thinking, mathematical reasoning, and visualization to create accurate and detailed drawings
• Prepare drawings and specification documents
• Research, plan, design and administer building projects for clients, applying knowledge of design construction procedures, zoning and building codes, and building materials
• Understand healthcare trends
• Prepare health planning presentation drawings, diagrams, and narratives
• Assist the coordination of all disciplines related to the building design and health planning
• Mentor junior staff or other interested colleagues in health planning practices
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Architecture
• Minimum 10 years' experience in Health Architecture
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in Health Planning
• Architectural registration
• Strong computer skills (AutoCAD, REVIT, Rhino, MS Office, Blue Beam)
• Advanced credentials desired (e.g. ACHA, LEED, EDAC, AICP, etc.)
• Willingness to travel
• Knowledge and experience of healthcare architecture planning and design
• Capability of making client presentations
• Leadership and management skills
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and flexible
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field
• Minimum 12 years of related experience
• Strong organizational skills
• Knowledge of materials, methods and tools involved in construction of buildings
• Understanding of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, prints, drawings and models
• Commitment to being an active participant of the employee‑owned culture
