Job summary

Santa Clara County Health Plan is seeking a Senior Health Care Financial Analyst to perform finance responsibilities and analyze health plan data. You will aggregate large datasets, run database queries, and perform business and financial calculations.

The role requires three years of health care finance experience, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with SQL/SAS and Microsoft Office. Exempt and reporting to the Director of Health Care Economics. The position is based in California.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master’s preferred.
• Experience: minimum three years in health care finance duties.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to handle large data sets.
• Relational database skills with various tools.
• Proficient with Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile revenue and costs using capitation invoices, eligibility, claims, and expense data.
• Design and prepare reports analyzing financial outcomes and make recommendations.
• Track regulatory reporting requirements and ensure compliance.
• Prepare regulatory reports and ensure accuracy of materials.
• Develop executive-level reporting on financial, utilization, and operational impacts.
• Analyze data to generate dashboards for senior management (MLR, costs, trends, provider profiles).
• Create queries and outputs in databases to support finance and contracting needs.
• Retrieve and compile information from internal and external sources.
• Support HEDIS and medical management analytics and reporting.
• Collaborate with IT to validate report portals and data marts.
• Provide encounter data reconciliation between regulators and claims data.
• Perform complex analyses to uncover root causes and trends and propose solutions.
