Job summary

The Downtown Boise YMCA is seeking a Senior Head Lifeguard to oversee safety in the pool, deck, and Aquatics facility. This role requires leading lifeguard teams, enforcing procedures, and ensuring excellent member experiences.

Open to full-time with benefits or part-time scheduling, with weekend coverage as required. Starting pay ranges from $16 to $20 per hour, with the YMCA providing robust benefits for qualifying full-time staff.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older on hire.
• Able to differentiate colors (red, yellow, blue, green).
• Pass all standard safety drills with 80% or higher.
• Able to coach and provide constructive feedback.

Responsibilities

• Perform active deck scanning and respond quickly to incidents.
• Serve as Designated First Responder for aquatics areas.
• Engage members with age-appropriate communication using Y voice.
• Build relationships to help members meet wellness goals.
• Follow Aquatics Leading Practice Manual and safety protocols.
