Job summary

NetApp is seeking a strategic Senior Commodity Manager, HDD to lead the global HDD sourcing strategy, owning end-to-end supplier relationships, negotiations, and supply continuity in a complex international environment.

In this individual-contributor role, you will collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Operations, Finance, and executives to secure technology, capacity, terms, and supplier commitments that align with NetApp’s priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field.
• 7+ years in strategic sourcing, procurement, or related commercial roles.
• Experience in HDD industry through procurement, sales, marketing, pricing, business development, product management, operations, or supplier management.
• Experience developing commercial strategies, negotiating agreements, managing strategic relationships, or leading cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong commercial, analytical, and negotiation skills with data-informed decision-making.
• Ability to influence cross-functionally and engage credibly with senior stakeholders and external partners without direct-report authority.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote or hybrid environment with globally distributed teams and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute the global HDD commodity strategy, aligning supplier capabilities and commercial terms with business requirements.
• Build executive-level relationships with strategic HDD suppliers and serve as a primary commercial contact.
• Lead complex, high-value negotiations, including multi-year agreements and pricing frameworks.
• Partner with Engineering and Product Management to assess emerging technologies and support cost objectives.
• Develop market intelligence on HDD suppliers, capacity, technology transitions, and cost trends.
• Identify and mitigate geopolitical, trade, regulatory, and regional supply risks.
• Maintain risk-mitigation plans covering supply continuity and escalation mechanisms.
• Lead supplier selection, qualification, and performance reviews across cost, quality, delivery, and compliance.
• Develop cost models and total-cost-of-ownership analyses to support decisions.
• Drive cross-functional resolution of supply constraints and lifecycle transitions.
• Communicate strategy and supplier performance to senior leaders.
