Job summary

Maersk is seeking a strategic and results-driven Procurement Specialist to lead the sourcing and onboarding of independent haulers for final mile delivery operations. The role focuses on building a reliable, cost-effective network of carriers with strong negotiation and vendor-management skills.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in procurement/logistics, familiarity with TMS and procurement platforms, and excellent communication and analytical abilities. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of experience in procurement, logistics, or transportation sourcing, preferably with independent contractors.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) and procurement platforms.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Independent Hauler Sourcing & Onboarding: Identify, evaluate, and recruit independent haulers to meet regional and national delivery needs.
• Vendor Management: Maintain strong relationships with haulers to ensure service quality, reliability, and performance.
• Contract Negotiation & Compliance: Negotiate competitive rates and service terms while ensuring safety and insurance requirements.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with operations, finance, and technology teams to align procurement strategies.
• Market Intelligence & Strategy: Stay informed on industry trends and regional capacity shifts to improve sourcing efficiency.
