Job Description

We are seeking a Hardware Test Automation Engineer to support commercial aerospace, defense, and industrial programs. This position will focus on executing board-level test procedures, developing automated test systems, and troubleshooting issues across hardware and software interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Execute, review, and proofread board-level test procedures for products being delivered to customers.
• Develop and automate test rigs and test systems using Python.
• Test circuit boards that integrate into larger box-level systems and validate the complete hardware configuration.
• Troubleshoot issues across hardware and software interfaces when testing does not produce the expected results.
• Identify whether failures originate from software, hardware, instrumentation, cabling, interfaces, or system integration.
• Integrate National Instruments hardware, including NI DAQ, PXI, RIO, and FlexRIO systems.
• Configure and integrate industrial sensors, actuators, instrumentation, and custom analog and digital interfaces.
• Work with communication buses and protocols such as CAN, J1939, ARINC, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, SPI, and I2C.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, systems, and test engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
• Document test results, system configurations, troubleshooting findings, and recommended corrective actions.
• Support continuous improvements to test procedures, automation software, and laboratory processes.

Required Qualifications

• Strong Python programming experience, including writing functions and developing test or automation software.
• Experience with hardware integration and complex test systems.
• Hands‑on knowledge of how software interacts with physical hardware.
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and system‑level integration issues.
• Experience working with National Instruments DAQ hardware or similar test platforms.
• Familiarity with electronic test equipment, instrumentation, sensors, and actuators.
• Experience with analog and digital signals and interfaces.
• Understanding of common communication protocols, such as CAN, J1939, ARINC, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, SPI, or I2C.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation, hardware specifications, and board‑level test procedures.
• Strong attention to detail when reviewing technical procedures and customer deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NI PXI, RIO, FlexRIO, or LabVIEW-based test environments.
• Previous experience supporting aerospace, defense, or industrial programs.
• Experience validating boards within larger box‑level or system‑level assemblies.
• Familiarity with automated test equipment and laboratory debugging tools.
• Experience supporting customer‑facing product testing or formal acceptance testing.
