RTX seeks a mid-career Senior Hardware Test Engineer to join the Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department in Andover, MA and Marlborough, MA. The role is onsite and focuses on comprehensive test support across development and production, including environmental and design verification tests.

You will lead test activities, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with design, structural analysis, and manufacturing teams, while supporting domestic and international factory testing.

Qualifications

The Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department is responsible for ensuring structural and thermal design robustness across the Raytheon portfolio of products. From preliminary concepts to fielded weapon system support, MA&T delivers innovative structural and thermal engineering solutions utilizing methods ranging from classical fundamental & empirically based techniques to state-of-the-art finite element methods leveraging industry leading commercial tools; all complimented and validated by tests executed in a manner to ensure cost effective yet technically balanced solutions.

The Senior Hardware Test Engineer position is located in Andover, MA and Marlborough, MA and the role is onsite. Raytheon is seeking a mid-level career Senior Hardware Test Engineer to join the Mechanical Analysis and Test Department. In this role you will be responsible for comprehensive test support during all phases of programs including development and production. Hardware Testing will cover a wide range of difficult problems, requiring solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives. The types of Hardware Tests include Proof of Design, Risk Mitigation, Proof of Manufacturing, Environmental Confidence Testing, Environmental Qualification, and Engineering Tests on operating and non-operating hardware. Additionally, Hardware Test personnel develop environmental stress screening requirements and provide rapid response factory production support. You will be expected to meet the test objectives and will be held accountable for completing the work within the agreed cost and schedule. The customers of this position will include internal personnel and programs as well as external Government(s) personnel and programs.

What You Will Do

• Perform instrumentation planning and test conduct of all Hardware Tests including vibration, mechanical shock, temperature, altitude, humidity, and structural testing
• Perform dynamic and thermal data acquisition and analysis
• Work directly with design engineering, structural analysis personnel, manufacturing engineering, and commercial customers
• Mentor and provide test guidance to junior section members
• Support Factory and supplier testing domestically and internationally
• Act as a technical leader (help define and develop MA&T department technical processes and tools) and lead teams to meet program milestones

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant or
• An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience
• Hands-on mechanical aptitude and willingness to work in a lab environment
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: Signal processing, data acquisition, field test instrumentation, or structural testing
• The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
• Willingness to travel to domestic Raytheon sites, suppliers, and government facilities

We Prefer

• Proficiency with Siemens LMS Simcenter/Test.Lab and Unholtz-Dickie vibration control systems/software
• Strong working knowledge of specifications and requirements with the ability to report compliance for Thermal and Vibration ESS, HALT, and HASS testing
• Willingness for international travel to Middle East, Asia, and Europe to foreign sites, suppliers, and facilities
• Experience in Hardware and Environmental Testing (i.e. Dynamic Shock/Vibration, Climatic, Structural)
• Experience with Matlab

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
