Job summary

Bedrock Robotics is seeking a Senior Functional Safety Engineer (Hardware) to define and drive the functional safety concept across the system. You’ll work with the hardware and software teams to analyze safety, develop diagnostics, and guide safety features through the end-to-end lifecycle on real hardware.

You will author HW safety concepts, safety requirements, and test plans, executing HARA, FMEA, FMEDA, and FTA. Strong hands-on hardware experience with real-time embedded systems is required.

Qualifications

• BS or advanced degree in electrical, mechanical, systems, or a related engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years in safety-critical hardware or systems engineering, including several focused on functional safety.
• Hands-on hardware background: designed, reviewed, brought up, debugged, or qualified electrical/electronic hardware.
• Experience with safety standards ISO 13849, IEC 61508, IEC 62061, ISO 26262, ISO 25119, or ISO 19014 and how they apply to different systems.

Responsibilities

• Define the functional safety concept for the system.
• Author HW-level technical safety concepts.
• Collaborate with HW team to understand architectural requirements for future HW platforms.
• Author HW safety requirements and design safety mechanisms.
• Establish test plans for verification and validation of safety requirements.
• Define test infrastructure and automation to support timely program execution.
• Execute safety analyses such as HARA, FMEA, FMEDA, and FTA.
