Job summary

Amazon Devices is seeking a Senior Hardware Reliability Engineer to drive reliability for robotic devices and to work with cross-disciplinary teams to define tests and validate designs.

You will perform reliability predictions, design experiments, and ensure robust product performance through DFMEA and reliability modeling.

Qualifications

• Experience with hardware reliability testing (vibration, shock, fatigue, electrical stress, ESD, thermal).
• Experience in robotics including motors, sensors and high-power electronics reliability.
• Knowledge of reliability statistics, DFMEA and reliability modeling.

Responsibilities

In this role, as a Sr. Hardware Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for the reliability engineering of our new and emerging robotic devices.

The Role

As a Senior Hardware Reliability Engineer, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff and outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition, execution and test. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment. You will be responsible for the test and validation of robotic devices. You should have a good understanding of Reliability statistics/Reliability tests and/or solid understanding of electrical and robotic products to influence design for reliability to:

• Identify and validate product risks, including but not limited to electrical system, mechanical system, and work with design teams to mitigate them.
• Define test methodology and test coverage to assure product reliability.
• Provide hands‑on experimental design and execution.
• Perform reliability prediction of failure mechanisms on products under development and products in the field.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience in component selection and understanding of component reliability.
• Experience in Robotics, including reliability of motors, sensors, and high power electronics.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or a related field and 7+ years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation.
• Experience with hardware reliability testing such as vibration & shock testing, fatigue testing, electrical stress testing, ESD testing, and thermal stress testing.
• Experience in data analytics, statistical analysis. Able to perform DFMEA, reliability analysis such as lifetime analysis, acceleration factor studies, reliability modeling and reliability allocation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or a related field and 5+ years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation.
• Experience with failure analysis techniques: Electrical debug, Cross sectioning, dye and pry and microscope.
• Knowledge of the following fields: Consumer, Industrial, and Automotive Electronics, and Building Standards.
• This position will require some domestic and international travel.
• Experienced communication skills in writing and presenting.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
