Job summary

River AI seeks exceptional hardware performance engineers to architect and model high-performance custom silicon and FPGA emulators. You will own performance models, ISA and kernel optimization, and collaborate with RTL design engineers.

Responsibilities include simulator development, micro-architectural exploration, workload profiling, and HW/SW co-design with compiler and kernel teams to maximize efficiency on AI workloads. Located in Austin or Palo Alto, with a competitive USD salary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
• 5+ years of industry experience with advanced process nodes (7nm or below).
• Expert proficiency in C/C++ or SystemC, and experience with high-performance kernels like CUDA/Triton.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement high-performance hardware models using C++/SystemC.
• Explore micro-architectural changes and evaluate IPC, MFU, TTFT impacts.
• Characterize workloads by profiling AI kernels and software stacks.
• Co-design with compiler and kernel teams to optimize software mapping to hardware.
• Validate performance models against RTL and pre-silicon emulators.
• Identify bottlenecks from ILP to bandwidth and utilization.
