Job summary

Draper is seeking a Principal Hardware Instrumentation Engineer in Cambridge, MA to design, develop, test, and oversee production of electronics systems for sensors and actuators. You’ll shape hardware architectures and lead electronics development with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities include defining specifications, driving complex problem solutions, and mentoring others. A 10+ year background in electrical engineering and a US security clearance will be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field required.
• Advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Designs new products and develops technical specifications for their production.
• Analyzes hardware configuration and processing solutions and tests hardware conformance to specifications.
• Independently drives solutions to complex problems - develops requirements and mitigates risks with unclear customer requirements.
• Subject Matter Expert able to develop advanced architectures for complex electronics.
• Supports business development activities including leading proposals and engaging with sponsors.
• Identifies program/system-level technical risks and develops mitigation strategies.
• Coordinates multi-disciplinary tasks with cross functional teams and communicates status to leadership and customers.
• Develops, documents, and teaches best practices to teammates; demonstrates strong organization and time management.
