Job summary

Medtronic is hiring for a Sr. Hardware Engineer to drive design and sustainment of capital equipment platforms, including electrosurgical generator systems. This onsite role in Lafayette, Colorado involves end-to-end ownership of hardware development within a cross-functional team.

WhatYou’llDo

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead the design, analysis, and troubleshooting of complex digital hardware and circuit boards
• Driveboard designprojectsthrough completion, verification, and integration
• Conduct hardware research, design, development, and testing of electrical components and systems
• Develop technical specifications and ensure hardware reliability and performance
• Analyze hardware configurations and verify designs meet system and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate withcross‑functionalpartners including systems engineering, manufacturing, regulatory, and marketing
• Providehands‑onlab support for prototypes, troubleshooting, and production hardware

Approximately 20% of this role will focus on componentlibrary management , including:

• Building schematic symbols and PCB footprints
• Maintaining and improving the electricalcomponentlibrary forECAD tools
• Ensuringcomponentdata integrity and standards compliance
• Supporting efficient hardware development through library quality and reuse

MinimumRequirements (Must Have)

• Bachelor’sin Electrical EngineeringorElectrical-ComputerEngineering, plus:
• 4 years related work experience OR Master’s degreewith 2+ years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with digital hardware design
• Experience with PCB design tools such as Cadence OrCAD, Allegro, or Altium
• Experience working in complex hardware systems ormulti‑boardarchitectures
• Familiarity with regulated product development environments (medical device, aerospace, automotive, etc.)
• Experience withcomponentlibraries orECAD library management
• Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering disciplines and cross functional teams.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in a lab environment

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$120,800.00 - $181,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
