Akamai's Hardware Engineering team is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to lead platform development for compute and GPU servers, partnering with OEM/ODM suppliers to deliver scalable cloud‑ready platforms.
You will own requirements, drive NPI processes from EVT through MP, and supervise bring‑up, validation, and performance tuning across power, thermal, and reliability domains. Office in Cambridge, US-based, with strong collaboration across teams.
Our Hardware Engineering team designs, qualifies, and scales the server platforms that power Akamai Cloud. We partner closely with OEM/ODM manufacturers to deliver reliable, efficient, and secure platforms from concept through global deployment.
You will develop new server platforms optimized for cloud workloads, and GPU‑accelerated configurations for AI inference. You will be at the forefront of the server lifecycle managing architecture, design for manufacturability, bring‑up, validation, and release ensuring our platforms meet demanding performance, cost, and reliability targets.
This role will require your presence in our Cambridge office 5 days a week. Applicants should be aware that this office attendance will be required.

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $121,400 - $218,600/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
