Job summary

Akamai Technologies in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Hardware Engineer II to design and validate next-generation server hardware for our Cloud Compute platforms. You will test server components, document results, and work closely with internal and external teams to resolve issues.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Understanding of computer architecture, server hardware components, firmware and operating systems.
• Experience with Linux environments and scripting, ideally with Bash or Python.
• Hands-on experience with embedded systems and debugging with lab tools.
• Experience with standards, protocols and related technologies such as Ethernet, TCP/IP, PCIe, NVMe, DDR and GPU architectures.
• Problem solving, documentation, and communication skills.

Our Hardware Engineering team designs, qualifies, and scales the server platforms that power Akamai Cloud. We partner closely with OEM/ODM manufacturers to deliver reliable, efficient, and secure platforms from concept through global deployment.

Partner with the best

You'll be responsible for creating, designing and realizing the next-generation servers for Akamai's CDN and Cloud Compute platforms. In this role, you'll test and validate hardware server components and systems to ensure they meet our performance and quality standards.

As a Hardware Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

• Testing next-generation server hardware platforms and components for performance, power and reliability.

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $95,000 - $171,000/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
