Job summary

NetSPI is seeking a Principal Hardware/Embedded Systems Penetration Tester to lead security assessments of hardware and embedded devices worldwide. You will perform hardware/firmware tests, develop testing plans, and deliver actionable remediation guidance to clients across IoT, automotive, ICS and other critical infrastructure.

You’ll mentor junior staff and help shape best practices for our Hardware & Integrated Systems.

Qualifications

• 4 years of dedicated security consulting experience, with 2 of those years in embedded/hardware penetration and security designs.
• 5 years of hardware/embedded design & development, plus 1–2 years of hardware/embedded security consulting and penetration testing.
• 10+ years of hardware/embedded design, development & fabrication with security knowledge.
• Hands‑on hardware penetration testing techniques including soldering, probing chips, and hardware debugging.

Responsibilities

• Perform Hardware and/or firmware penetration tests on diverse devices.
• Lead threat modelling exercises related to Embedded Systems.
• Create and deliver penetration test reports to clients.
• Collaborate with clients to develop remediation strategies to improve security posture.
• Test hardware, embedded systems, IoT devices, automotive systems, ICS, and other critical infrastructure.
• Develop testing plans, methodologies, and tools tailored to hardware platforms.
• Identify, analyze, and document security vulnerabilities and exploits in hardware/firmware.
• Review system architectures with cross‑functional teams to design solutions.
• Provide detailed reports and presentations to stakeholders.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to testing standards.
• Stay current with security trends and technologies in hardware/embedded domains.
