Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Senior Hardware Development Engineer for the EC2 Networking and Outpost Hardware Team in Cupertino, CA. You will solve systemic hardware challenges for high‑volume cloud infrastructure and drive scalable, secure designs from concept to production.

You will collaborate with internal/external customers, vendors, and cross‑functional teams to deliver server fleets, develop specs, and perform design verification and test procedures.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • 5+ years of experience with complex server, storage, or network server designs.
  • 5+ years of experience developing functional specifications, design verification plans, functional test procedures, and operational repair plans.
  • 5+ years of experience debugging and performing root‑cause analysis of PCIe, memory, storage, or networking subsystems.
  • 3+ years of advanced support experience managing customer escalations in large‑scale production environments.
  • Strong collaborative skills with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.

Join the AWS EC2 Networking and Outpost hardware team, a startup‑like group within a large enterprise that designs and builds high‑performance hardware for the world’s biggest cloud computing infrastructure. This role involves solving systemic challenges, driving operational improvements, and delivering world‑class, highly secure hardware at scale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and solve problems within the existing fleet to improve customer experience and develop future systems.

  • Experience with BIOS, BMC, signal integrity, memory, storage, PCIe, and thermal design.
  • Experience deploying and operating hardware and applications at scale.
  • Developed monitoring and alerting systems to quickly identify and categorize failures in production environments.
  • Results‑oriented individual with a bias for action.
