Job summary

The Genie Company is seeking an experienced Hardware Design Engineer to lead electronic and motor control systems for Genie residential and commercial products. You will architect, design, analyze, and document PCB-level control systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring next-generation door openers and accessories to market.

The role requires strong analog/digital and power circuit skills, embedded systems experience, and proficiency with CAD tools like Altium or PADS.

Qualifications

• Proven experience developing residential/commercial products for high-volume manufacturing.
• Strong fundamentals with analytical/problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on experience designing analog, digital, and power circuits at PCB level.
• Proficiency with CAD tools for schematic and PCB design.
• Experience with FCC/UL regulatory standards.
• Knowledge of NPD stage-gate processes from concept to production.
• Understanding of PCB fabrication, assembly, and production test.
• Experience with embedded MCUs and firmware is a plus.
• Familiarity with signal/power integrity, simulation, or thermal analysis tools is a plus.
• Ability to lead technical projects and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Feasibility studies and evaluation of new technologies and architectures.
• Lead electrical design through all product development phases.
• Develop design requirements, specs, and technical documentation.
• Select components, develop schematics, and prototype for validation.
• Guide PCB layout and design reviews for manufacturability and testability.
• Design and validate RF circuits, antennas, and wireless range.
• Lead prototype bring-up, debugging, and system verification.
• Ensure EMC, FCC, UL compliance; support manufacturing and suppliers.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive product improvements.
• Support successful product launches.
