Job summary

Kemper is seeking a senior software engineer to design robust, high-performance solutions for the property & casualty claims domain. You will contribute technically on critical initiatives and guide architectural improvements while collaborating with engineering and product teams.

Proficiency in Guidewire ClaimCenter and a strong SDLC background are required. Remote work from a US-based home is possible, with a salary range of $89,000 to $148,100 and a discretionary annual bonus opportunity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in CS/CE or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• At least 8 years of developer experience, with 2+ years in senior/lead capacity.
• Extensive Guidewire ClaimCenter experience required.
• Proficiency in Java, Gosu, Kotlin, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript.
• Knowledge of auto insurance preferred; SDLC mastery.
• Ability to optimize software development lifecycles and bottlenecks.
• Solid understanding of design patterns, architecture, and cloud-native systems.
• Experience with CI/CD, containers, microservices, and monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with Guidewire InsuranceSuite PCF, REST APIs, messages queues, batches.

Responsibilities

• Design robust, high-performance solutions across systems and services.
• Serve as a key technical contributor on P&C claims projects.
• Share deep technical knowledge without formal management duties.
• Evaluate and advocate for architecture and process improvements.
• Collaborate with engineering and product to align implementation with business needs.
• Create proof-of-concepts to demonstrate capabilities.
• Enforce standard coding and security best practices.
• Work within SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework).
