Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking a Senior Guidance & Control Engineer to deliver world-class analysis and development for advanced autonomous vehicle systems, including hypersonics and missiles.

You will lead research, design, and implementation of cutting-edge GNC algorithms, mentor peers, and collaborate with DoD program offices to ensure successful transition of systems to operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
• At least five years of experience in vehicle guidance, controls, or autonomous systems.
• Proficient in controls theory, including PID and modern methods (nonlinear Lyapunov, adaptive, robust, cooperative, and model predictive control).
• Ability to obtain Interim Secret clearance and ultimately a Top Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Apply expertise in guidance and control to complex autonomous vehicle systems.
• Lead the design and development of advanced guidance and control algorithms.
• Mentor and guide other GNC engineers to maintain deep knowledge in analysis, design, and implementation of control solutions.
