Job summary

Collier County is seeking a senior planner to assist in implementing the Growth Management Plan (GMP) and County Land Development Code. You will analyze amendments, prepare reports, and present findings to the Board of County Commissioners and other entities.

The role involves coordinating land use petitions, conducting site visits, and ensuring compliance with development regulations. A degree plus experience are required; fingerprinting is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Three (3) years of related experience.
• Candidates without related degree should possess an additional four (4) years of related experience.
• Fingerprinting required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare GMP interpretations and amendments; review GMP amendments; prepare legal ordinances and resolutions.
• Review and coordinate the land use petitions for rezoning, variances, conditional uses, development of regional impacts, and minor land use petition process.
• Coordinate pre-application meetings between applicants and various County Divisions; identify conflicts with codes, policies, and procedures.
• Review and evaluate applications for sufficiency; evaluate requests and coordinate County Division reviews; analyze petitions for compliance with Land Development Code and GMP; present to boards.
• Communicate project details and staff findings to the public in hearings or pre-hearing settings by phone, written, or group formats.
• Maintain the Land Development Code; study changes, update provisions, and educate staff on code changes.
• Implement the Development Review Module; assist in system function, coordinate user meetings, create databases, and manage testing.
• Process zoning certificates and temporary use permits; research zoning questions for other divisions.
• Prepare reports, executive summaries, and special projects; conduct studies; prepare population estimates and projections.
• Provide GMP and demographic information; present to boards and groups.
