Job summary

The City of Alexandria’s Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities is seeking a Senior Group Fitness Instructor to lead structured wellness programs for older adults, deliver evidence-based classes, and evaluate participant progress.

Ideal candidates hold a nationally recognized group fitness or wellness certification and are prepared to obtain an evidence-based program certification within 30 days of hire, while supporting safety, inclusion, and strong data tracking across sessions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• First Aid training.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging, research-based fitness classes that promote health and social interaction for older adults.
• Facilitate a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for participants.
• Collaborate with City staff and department resources to ensure program success.
• Support Alexandria’s senior community by expanding access to high-quality wellness programming.
