Job summary

WSP seeks a Senior Groundwater Modeler to support multiple U.S. offices, including Redmond, WA. You will develop analytical and numerical groundwater models for contaminated site investigations and water resources projects, and provide technical expertise to client teams.

You will interpret results, prepare technical reports, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with the Redmond modeling team and the wider WSP groundwater community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrology, or Engineering with groundwater modelling specialization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (including presentations, reports).
  • English fluency; MS Word/Excel proficiency.

Responsibilities

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Senior Groundwater Modeler for our Redmond, WA, Denver, CO, Meridian, ID, Minneapolis, MN, Bend, OR, or Portland, OR office. Be involved in projects with our Environment, Remediation, and Water Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact
  • Develop and apply analytical and numerical groundwater models to support contaminated site investigations and water resource projects;
  • Analysis and interpretation of model results and hydrogeological data and preparation of reports;
  • Providing technical support for geologic and hydrogeologic investigations, hydrogeologic testing, geologic and hydrogeologic visualization, analytical and numerical groundwater flow modeling, contaminated sites investigations, and development of conceptual site models;
  • Planning and managing projects and participating in client meetings;
  • Performing (either in a lead or supporting role) business development activities, including client contact/presentations, proposal writing, and professional society participation;
  • Serving as an internal technical resource to provide guidance/review to help ensure technical quality within WSP as well as mentoring to junior-level staff; and
  • Work closely with other members of the WSP modeling team Redmond as well as the wider WSP groundwater technical community around the world in a collaborative environment
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrology, or Engineering with a specialization in groundwater modelling through course work or undergraduate projects/thesis;
  • Minimum of five-years of experience with industry-standard numerical modelling packages (e.g., MODFLOW, Groundwater Vistas, FEFLOW, HydroGeoSphere, MIKE SHE);
  • Minimum of seven years’ experience; preferably in a consulting practice.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (including making presentations, leading discussions, technical documentation, proposal/report writing, etc.), including English fluency;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel;
  • Excellent work ethic with strong organization and time management skills;
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening;
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team; and
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Professional Geologist (PG) and/or Licensed Hydrogeologist (LHg)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Post-graduate degree (M.Sc., Ph.D.) in Geology, Hydrology, Engineering, or related discipline;
  • Strong all-around academic knowledge of physical hydrogeology and geology;
  • Practical experience with physical hydrogeology including borehole logging, monitoring well installation, and hydraulic conductivity testing;
  • Experience with Pest and Null Space Monte Carlo analyses;
  • Exposure to machine learning;
  • Strong computer skills including working with GIS-type software, digital databases, and visualization software (Leapfrog); and
  • Programming experience including Python, R, and VBA.

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $90,700, - $118,500

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
