Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Ground Systems Engineer to lead systems engineering across the full lifecycle of ground infrastructure supporting mission operations, command and control, and satellite communications for national security and aerospace missions. This is a hybrid role based in El Segundo, CA with up to 10% travel.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 10+ years of experience, active Top Secret clearance, and hands-on experience with ground

Qualifications

• 10+ years of systems engineering experience on complex defense programs.
• Experience with ground systems, mission systems, and satellite operations.
• Knowledge of requirements management tools (DOORS or Jama).
• Experience with system integration, testing, verification, and validation.
• Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead systems engineering activities across the system development lifecycle.
• Develop and manage system requirements, interfaces, baselines.
• Support architecture development for ground and mission systems.
• Perform integration, verification, validation, and readiness testing.
• Develop CONOPS, ICDs, requirements docs, test procedures.
• Conduct trade studies and root cause analysis for complex issues.
• Collaborate with software, network, cybersecurity, and operations teams.
• Support customer reviews and milestone assessments.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff.
