Job summary

Burns & McDonnell’s Houston team seeks a Distribution Planning Project Manager to guide electrical distribution planning projects, including wind/solar studies, load flows, and interconnection analyses. You will lead a team of engineers and analysts, drive business development, and deliver actionable client deliverables.

The role emphasizes strategic client engagement, proposal development, and project oversight across multiple studies to optimize grid performance and enable electrification.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in engineering or related field.
• MBA or engineering management a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of related experience with renewable generation (wind/solar).
• Deep knowledge of electric utility systems and renewable generation facilities.
• Experience leading multi-discipline teams of engineers and analysts.
• Proven ability to develop client relationships and sell consulting services.
• Strong communication and project management skills.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Business development: cultivate client relationships, identify sales opportunities, lead proposal development, plan projects, and negotiate contracts.
• Project execution: manage scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables; ensure quality and communicate status to stakeholders.
• Leadership: mentor staff and lead a team of engineers and analysts in renewable generation studies.
• Other duties as assigned.
