Job summary

1898 & Co., part of Burns & McDonnell, seeks a Project Manager to lead power markets and power supply planning engagements from development through execution, guiding engineers and analysts and managing scope, schedule, budget, and client relations.

The role emphasizes business development, mentorship, and delivering defensible recommendations across IRP, market assessments, and portfolio analyses for utilities and IPPs in US markets.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting electric utilities or power market participants with power supply planning or market analysis.
• Experience with U.S. wholesale markets including day-ahead, real-time energy products, capacity markets, and ancillary services.
• Understanding of power market structures, ISO/RTO regulations, and power purchase agreements.
• Strong analytical, budgeting, and client-facing communication skills.
• Leadership of multidisciplinary teams in consulting engagements.

Responsibilities

• Lead business development and sales activities, including client relationships and proposal development.
• Manage full lifecycle of power market and power supply planning projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and client communication.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to growth of the Power Markets practice.
• Apply engineering, economic, and market analyses to deliver clear, defensible recommendations.
