Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced engineer to join our project team in Charlotte, NC, focusing on electric utility distribution design for both overhead and underground networks from 4 kV to 34 kV. You will oversee sketches, perform analyses, and coordinate with clients and internal disciplines.

The role requires a engineering degree and 9+ years of relevant experience, with PE license as a plus. Hybrid work with relocation support is offered for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Requires degree in engineering and 9+ years in electric utility distribution or related experience.
• PE License is a plus.
• 5+ years in physical distribution design methods and their application.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards: NESC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, GIS/GWD.
• Experience with complex overhead/underground distribution projects (120/208V through 34 kV).
• Experience serving as firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee construction sketches and details for overhead/underground networks (4 kV–34 kV).
• Designs overhead URD and underground network services.
• Analyze and design priority feeds; plan modifications to distribution systems.
• Develop work packages and monitor performance of the work.
• Provide QA/QC on construction packages; coordinate client meetings.
