Stand Together in Arlington, VA is seeking a Senior Writer to craft clear, compelling communications that empower millions to advocate for policy changes. You’ll write across platforms for Stand Together and partners, driving messaging that aligns government roles with our priorities.

You must have 5+ years in grassroots politics, journalism, or political communications and an ability to translate complex ideas into concise narratives. Entrepreneurial, results-focused writing is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of writing experience in grassroots advocacy, journalism, or political communications, including elections-related work.
• Ability to translate complex ideas into clear narratives and tailor tone to diverse audiences.
• Experience editing, mentoring writers, and shaping messaging across platforms.

Responsibilities

• Shape editorial strategy for programs and partners to strengthen messaging across channels.
• Provide editing, coaching, and mentorship to other writers.
• Serve as strategic partner to internal teams, aligning content with priorities.
• Write high-impact content across emails, blogs, direct mail, and event communications.
• Develop messaging on elections, the economy, health care, immigration, and government.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to inform communications strategy.
• Adapt to evolving priorities with an entrepreneurial mindset.
• Deliver persuasive content on tight deadlines with accuracy and clarity.
• Maintain brand voice and ensure tone aligns with Stand Together’s principles.
