Job summary

NANO Nuclear Energy seeks a Graphite Engineer to support the development, analysis, and qualification of graphite components for HTGR systems. The role covers material selection, characterization, and evaluation of thermal and mechanical properties to enable next-generation microreactor designs.

Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, nuclear, and systems teams; review literature; and prepare licensing documentation, engineering reports, and presentations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field and 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience with materials science fundamentals and degradation mechanisms.
  • Ability to analyze technical data and communicate engineering conclusions.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support design, evaluation, and qualification of graphite components used in HTGR systems.
  • Analyze graphite material properties including thermal conductivity, strength, oxidation resistance, creep, and dimensional stability.
  • Support material selection, procurement specs, and supplier evaluations.
  • Perform analyses related to high-temperature graphite performance.
  • Evaluate graphite behavior under thermal gradients and irradiation conditions.
  • Develop material qualification plans, test requirements, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, nuclear, and systems teams.
  • Review literature and industry data on graphite performance in HTGRs.
  • Prepare engineering reports, calculations, and licensing support documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical discussions with stakeholders.
