About The Job Senior Graphic Designer 3 - 152212-1

Job Title: Graphic Designer 3

Location: remote but needs to be local to Cambridge, Massachusetts (1 Memorial Drive) or New York City, New York (300 Lafayette Street)

Schedule: M-F, 40 HR

Start Date: 4/21/2025

Salary Range: $44 - $48/hourly

Candidates with previous experience working at Microsoft Corporation, either as a full-time employee (FTE) or contractor, are strongly preferred.

Summary

The team manages internal and external affairs for Microsoft Research, partnering closely with researchers to accelerate their work, hosting internal events, and engaging in community initiatives.

Key projects involve creating visually compelling designs for digital platforms and in-person experiences, collaborating with program managers and cross-functional teams to deliver innovative design solutions. The role reports to the Director of the Microsoft Research Community Initiatives team.

Responsibilities
  • Design & Production: Create and deliver graphic art, layouts, and designs for webpages, emails, conference booths, and social media assets.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with Program Managers, gather input, manage expectations, and present design concepts.
  • Visual Identity: Maintain consistency with Microsoft Research branding across all deliverables.
  • Alignment: Collaborate with the Design Lead to ensure adherence to visual guidelines and evolutions.
Candidate Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in graphic design with a strong portfolio in print and digital media.
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field.
  • Experience designing for academic research communities, knowledge of motion graphics/video editing, and experience in large tech or research organizations are preferred.
  • Proficiency with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, M365, WordPress.
  • Strong time management and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects independently.
