Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center seeks a Senior Grants Specialist in Pediatrics to collaborate with faculty on submitting, processing, and administering research grants and awards. You will monitor award agreements, subcontracts, and reporting, serving as the primary contact for sponsored programs.

Work under minimal supervision with professionalism and collaboration, supporting researchers through grant processes and compliance within a leading pediatric department in Dallas.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or related field.
  • 4 years of experience in business or public administration with emphasis on customer service in financial or contracting position.
  • Applicants without the stated degree but with significant additional professional applicable experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Gathers and provides information regarding funding opportunities and application procedures to applicants by reading newsletters and announcements, search directories, funding files, and other relevant resources.
  • Provides guidance to researchers for proposal development and submission by interpreting and ensuring adherence to sponsor and university announcements and guidelines.
  • Provides grants management support to researchers by negotiating and processing awards, interpreting award conditions, obtaining approvals for award modifications, and completing required reports.
  • Negotiates contracts with various agencies (state and federal government, private organizations), pharmaceutical companies, and biotechnological companies to achieve agreements satisfactory to all parties.
  • May draft entire contracts of various types following state laws and Board of Regents' guidelines.
  • Provides working supervision to Grants and Contracts Specialist and administrative positions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Grants Specialist in Pediatrics will work closely with assigned divisions and faculty to submit, process, review, receive and administer research grants and awards. While also monitoring award agreements, subcontracts and grant agreements throughout the life of the award. The Senior Grants Specialist will be the primary point of contact for their faculty regarding sponsored programs, applications, new application processes, and any reporting that should take place for the received awards. This role is expected to work under minimal supervision while providing this administrative support to the researchers/faculty and maintain a level of professionalism, collaboration, resourcefulness and practicality.
