Job summary

NVIDIA is seeking an Senior Applied Research Scientist to design GPU-native numerical methods for engineering simulation. You will explore solver algorithms, build prototypes, and move promising ideas into NVIDIA software platforms, focusing on massive parallelism, mixed precision, and multi-GPU systems.

You will collaborate across CUDA-X, NVIDIA Research, and partner teams to shape the long-term roadmap for GPU-native computational engineering and AI-native methods.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in a technical field such as computational mechanics, applied mathematics, or computer science.
• 5+ years of relevant research or industry experience.
• Proficiency in PDE discretization, finite element/volume methods, and HPC.
• Experience writing numerical software in C++ and Python; CUDA or GPU code.
• Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Invent and reformulate numerical algorithms for modern NVIDIA GPU architectures.
• Develop solver methods: Newton-Krylov, multigrid/AMG, domain decomposition, matrix-free approaches.
• Investigate GPU-specific reformulations of CPU-oriented methods.
• Evaluate algorithms on mechanics, multiphysics, EDA domains.
• Collaborate with CUDA-X, NVIDIA Research, universities, and industry partners.
