Job summary

CarlsonSV in Plymouth, MN is seeking an experienced Audit Leader to help grow our governmental services practice. As an Audit Manager, you will lead engagements, mentor staff, and build lasting client relationships with cities, schools, and other governmental entities.

You'll partner with partners and the governmental services team to deliver high-quality audits, provide guidance on complex accounting issues, and contribute to recruiting and process improvements in a collaborative, hybrid work

Qualifications

• Active CPA license or CPA candidate with strong governmental audit experience including single audits.
• Experienced auditor who understands the bigger picture behind the numbers.
• Confident communicator who can work effectively with clients, governing boards and internal teams.
• Takes ownership and is proactive in solving problems.
• Curious, analytical and intentional in approach to work.
• Natural mentor who helps others grow.
• Comfortable in a collaborative, evolving environment.
• Willing to travel to clients and build strong relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead governmental audit engagements from planning through completion.
• Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for clients.
• Review audit workpapers and financial statements and provide guidance to engagement teams.
• Apply strong technical knowledge of governmental accounting and auditing standards.
• Communicate audit findings and recommendations to clients, boards and management.
• Develop long-term client relationships beyond the annual audit.
• Mentor, coach and develop staff and senior team members.
• Contribute to recruiting and developing the next generation of governmental auditors.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, client service and team development.
