Job summary

Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) seeks a Golf Course Superintendent II to manage Burke Lake Golf Course and lead the maintenance team. You will develop turf plans, supervise irrigation and staff, and coordinate improvements with the site manager.

This role requires a strong background in turf management and budgeting. Qualifications include an Associate degree in agronomy or related field and three years’ golf course superintendent experience, plus a Certified Fertilizer Applicator License

Qualifications

Two-year associate degree in agronomy, turfgrass management, recreation and parks, horticulture or related field.
Three years’ experience as golf course superintendent or equivalent role.
Certified Fertilizer Applicator License or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

Manage maintenance and operation of a large fleet of greens mowers and related equipment.
Develop and implement a turf management plan for greens, tees, roughs and lawns.
Supervise a centralized irrigation system including pumps, controllers and valves.
Plan and supervise major improvement projects such as greens/tees, cart paths and pond work.
Authorize purchases, maintain safety records and ensure compliance with regulations.
