EPAM Systems in Menlo Park, CA is seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join the Middle Office Core Platform Organization. You will design and build modules and features, focusing on scalable, reliable backend services using Go and modern cloud technologies.

We are seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to join our Middle Office Core Platform Organization. This team owns systems, services, and initiatives to provide financial products to our customers across digital channels. This organization is responsible for building financial products, platform capabilities, and components that are used by millions of customers daily.
As a Senior Backend Engineer , you will be working in the Middle Office Core Platform Organization to drive product development and modernization initiatives. You are a builder with a deep understanding of tools and technologies to build products that deliver business outcomes while keeping an absolute obsession with the customer experience. You will be responsible for designing and programming small modules or large components, as well as designing features and sets of features.

Engage in technical discussions, participate in technical designs, and present technical ideas through whiteboarding
Work closely with your peers, actively engaging in a fast-paced technical design and development team
Execute in a fast-paced delivery mode with a sharp focus on delivering tasks to meet product release goals
Maintain code quality through best practices, rigorous unit testing, and code quality automation
Understand the overall product, its modules, and their interrelationships while serving as an expert in your assigned components or modules
Help design interfaces and information exchange mechanisms between modules
Possess advanced domain knowledge, demonstrate great customer focus, remain an expert in processes/methodologies, and stay skilled in build, release, and deployment processes
Articulate the need for scalability and understand the importance of improving quality through comprehensive testing
Write robust code that meets high standards and delivers desired functionality using Go and modern cloud technologies
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a STEM Major (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)
A minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience (or 5 years with a Master's degree, or 2 years with a PhD)
Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design Patterns, and clean coding principles
Extensive hands-on experience and deep proficiency in Go (Golang) development
Hands-on experience in microservices architecture and development, as well as relational and distributed databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, Sybase)
Preferred experience with Python scripting
Preferred experience in ServiceMesh, Containers, and Kubernetes technologies
Preferred hands-on experience building cloud-based software leveraging cloud and open-source technologies/frameworks
Proven experience in building scalable, resilient, and highly available distributed systems
Experience in assessing application performance and optimizing/improving it through design and best coding practices
Expertise in core data structures and algorithms with the ability to implement them efficiently in Go
Preferred understanding and experience with public cloud native services (e.g., AWS, Azure)
Experience in Agile software development environments
Strong problem-solving abilities with the capacity to clearly articulate complex technical topics and assignments
Evangelizes how our technology solves customer problems from both a technical and business perspective
Demonstrates clarity of thinking to work effectively through limited information and vague problem definitions
Proactively identifies and addresses customer issues within the product lifecycle
