Job summary

General Galactic seeks a Senior GNC & Mission Design Engineer to own GNC solutions and mission design for our spacecraft and missions, including ADCS, maneuver planning, and conops. You will work with founders and a focused technical team to deliver credible performance estimates and robust analyses.

The role covers cross-disciplinary collaboration with flight software, business development, and operations, with ownership and rapid execution at startup pace in Los Angeles area.

Qualifications

• BS in aerospace engineering, controls engineering, or a related technical field.
• 4+ years of experience in GNC, mission design, flight dynamics, astrodynamics, controls.
• Experience with Python, MATLAB, Simulink, STK/ODTK/GMAT, FreeFlyer, Basilisk, Monte Carlo frameworks.
• Startup environment experience and high ownership across disciplines.
• Strong orbital mechanics, dynamics, state estimation, and propulsion understanding.

Responsibilities

• Build practical analytical tools, simulations, and models to evaluate mission feasibility.
• Own GNC analyses, algorithms, simulations, and operating modes for General Galactic vessels.
• Support business development by assessing customer missions and proposing architectures.
• Collaborate with flight software to integrate GNC algorithms and tests.
• Conduct Monte Carlo and robustness analyses for mission plans and GNC outcomes.
• Review data to validate models and improve vehicle and mission performance.
• Own ADCS development and conops for maneuver planning and ΔV budgeting.
• Lead mission design assessments for vehicle and mission suites.
