Job summary

Voyager Technologies seeks a Principal Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer to modernize GNC algorithms and drive innovative state estimation and sensor fusion techniques for lunar systems. This on-site Pittsburgh role reports to the Software & Controls Manager and shapes mission concepts and technology roadmaps.

You will lead high‑fidelity simulations, mentor engineers, and collaborate with systems, avionics, and software teams to ensure robust, flight-ready GNC solutions for descent,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related engineering field with 15+ years of relevant experience
• Extensive experience developing, analyzing, and validating GNC algorithms for spacecraft or autonomous systems
• Deep knowledge of nonlinear dynamics, state estimation, sensor fusion, and modern filtering techniques
• Proven success modernizing and improving GNC algorithms, modeling methods, and analysis frameworks
• Experience introducing advanced navigation, estimation, or control approaches in simulations or flight software
• Strong understanding of lunar/cislunar environments and their implications for GNC design

Responsibilities

• Lead efforts to raise GNC analysis, modeling, and algorithm fidelity to industry standards
• Advance guidance, navigation, and control algorithms with state-of-the-art methods
• Modernize high-fidelity simulation environments for verification and mission analysis
• Develop and validate navigation and control strategies for descent, landing, attitude, and autonomy
• Perform trade studies on sensors, estimation, trajectories, and control architectures
• Provide senior technical leadership across Lunar Systems and roadmaps
• Collaborate with systems engineering, avionics, software, mission analysis, and mechanics teams
• Produce clear technical documentation and reviews for stakeholders
• Mentor GNC engineers and raise team standards
• Identify mission risks and propose mitigation or analyses
