Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Melbourne, FL, is seeking a Staff GNC Engineer – Flying Qualities to design and test advanced GNC algorithms for air vehicles. You will develop dynamic models, support flight tests, and provide technical leadership across design reviews.

The role requires a strong background in GNC, MATLAB/Simulink, and multi-disciplinary collaboration, with active clearances and a path to Top Secret. We offer a robust benefits package and challenging projects.

Qualifications

• Must have Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 12 years of relevant experience.
• OR Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 10 years of relevant experience.
• OR PhD in a STEM discipline with 8 years of relevant experience.
• Must have an active US Government Secret clearance with recent background investigation or enrollment in Continuous Evaluation.
• Must obtain and maintain a US Government Top Secret clearance, Interim Top Secret clearance required prior to start.
• Must obtain and maintain SAP clearance within business needs.
• Experience with airworthiness assessments for aircraft flying qualities and control.
• Experience as part of multi-disciplinary GNC engineers on a development program.
• Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, and autocoding Simulink models.
• Experience in supplier/customer relationship management.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, verify and test GNC algorithms and software.
• Develop control laws to meet performance and stability requirements.
• Create dynamic simulation models and integrate into HIL environments.
• Prepare analyses for design reviews (PDR/CDR).
• Analyze air vehicle flight test data and support tests.
• Present progress updates in technical meetings and reviews.
