Job description

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

Micron is looking for a seasoned energy procurement expert to become part of its Global Energy Procurement group. This prominent position will guide the creation and implementation of energy sourcing plans that support key semiconductor manufacturing activities across the North American region. You will negotiate and carry out sophisticated energy transactions, develop innovative commercial structures, and secure reliable, efficient, carbon-free energy solutions that contribute to Micron's long-term growth.

Working closely with executive leadership and external collaborators, you will support future manufacturing expansion through strategic energy procurement and infrastructure planning. The ideal candidate is a commercially minded negotiator who thrives in complex environments. They can balance market fundamentals, regulatory frameworks, infrastructure constraints, and business objectives to deliver creative solutions. Success in this role requires the ability to operate independently, influence senior leaders, and structure customized commercial arrangements where standard market offerings do not meet business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Direct negotiations for intricate energy deals, including:

  • Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs)

  • Virtual PPAs (VPPAs)

  • Energy Supply Agreements (ESAs)

  • Utility niche agreements

  • Carbon-free, renewable, traditional baseload, natural gas, and LNG transactions

  • Manage transactions from market evaluation through negotiation, contracting, and implementation

  • Develop commercial frameworks and strategic alliances that support Micron's energy and manufacturing objectives

  • Negotiate first-of-a-kind agreements involving utilities, developers, independent power producers, infrastructure providers, energy suppliers, and government partners

  • Evaluate regulated and deregulated market opportunities, including utility tariffs, transmission constraints, market access programs, and infrastructure investments

  • Build financial models and arguments supporting procurement decisions, portfolio optimization, investment opportunities, and risk management

  • Analyze electricity trading environments, utility rate structures, fuel markets, and regulatory developments to find opportunities and reduce risk

  • Lead high-level negotiations with utilities, developers, energy suppliers, regulators, and strategic partners

  • Collaborate with Legal, Finance, Sustainability, Facilities, Government Affairs, and Site Leadership to advance strategic energy initiatives

  • Develop executive recommendations supporting major sourcing decisions and long-term energy strategy

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field

  • 7+ years of experience in energy procurement, energy origination, utility management, power marketing, energy development, commodity sourcing, or related fields

  • Experience negotiating complex commercial agreements

  • Solid understanding of electricity markets, utility frameworks, and energy supply agreements

  • Demonstrated financial modeling and commercial analysis capabilities

  • Strong communication, collaborator management, and negotiation skills

  • Demonstrated ability to responsibly use AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency, analysis, market research, and decision support

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience negotiating PPAs, VPPAs, ESAs, utility tariffs, natural gas agreements, LNG contracts, or carbon-free energy transactions

  • Experience supporting large industrial, semiconductor, manufacturing, or hyperscale data center energy portfolios

  • Proven ability to lead complex negotiations involving energy supply, infrastructure development, utility services, generation assets, or other large-scale strategic transactions

  • Knowledge of North American and APAC energy markets

  • Experience with nuclear, geothermal, energy storage, hydrogen, or other emerging energy technologies

  • MBA or Master's degree preferred

Why Join Micron

This is an outstanding opportunity to help build the energy strategy supporting some of the world's largest semiconductor manufacturing investments!

You will direct strategic energy sourcing initiatives throughout North America, collaborating closely with energy providers, project creators, regulators, suppliers, and executive leadership. Projects could involve nuclear energy purchasing, geothermal development, utility special contracts, LNG sourcing, renewable energy purchasing, and infrastructure solutions that support significant manufacturing growth.

The successful candidate will hold a meaningful position in securing long-term energy supply, supporting manufacturing growth, and boosting Micron's global competitiveness. You will engage with energy markets, the advancement of core systems, utility strategy, sustainability, regulatory engagement, and corporate growth while influencing billions of dollars in energy spend and investment decisions.

As a world leader in the semiconductor industry, Micron is dedicated to your personal wellbeing and professional growth.
