Job summary

OpenAI, Inc. is seeking a senior communications leader to shape how we discuss cybersecurity and to define the global narrative for major product, research, and policy milestones.

You will build programs that explain how OpenAI strengthens cyber defense while responsibly deploying advanced capabilities. You will work with Security, Product, Research, Policy, Legal, and Marketing to craft trusted messaging for practitioners, policymakers, and the public, leading through launches and disclosures

Qualifications

• 12+ years of communications experience in technical or security fields.
• Proven track record shaping narratives and securing coverage in cybersecurity or policy media.
• Ability to translate complex security and product topics into clear messaging.
• Experience advising senior leaders on positioning during high-visibility events.
• Strong judgment on accuracy, transparency, and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Define OpenAI's cybersecurity communications strategy and narrative across product, research, and policy.
• Lead media engagement with cybersecurity, technology, and policy outlets.
• Coordinate with product, research, safety and legal teams to ensure consistent messaging.
• Oversee launches, disclosures, and fast-moving security issues.
• Translate technical decisions into credible communications and establish messaging systems.
