A growing commercial contractor is seeking a skilled Glazier and Carpenter to join its installation team in Long Island.
The position focuses on commercial glass, aluminum storefronts, doors, curtain walls, and insulated glass systems. You will work across active project sites, completing accurate installations and resolving practical issues as they arise.
Fit and repair commercial glazing, storefront framing, doors, curtain-wall systems, and insulated glass units.
Review blueprints and shop drawings before beginning installation work.
Survey sites and take accurate measurements for glass and framing materials.
Cut and prepare materials to meet project specifications.
Check finished installations against drawings, building codes, and safety requirements.
Work closely with project managers, contractors, and other trades.
Move and store glass safely to reduce the risk of damage or injury.
Keep tools, equipment, and work areas in good condition.
Adapt to unexpected site conditions while maintaining workmanship and deadlines.
Two to three years of commercial glazing or relevant carpentry experience.
Previous work with storefront and curtain-wall installations.
Ability to understand construction drawings and shop plans.
Experience using glazing equipment, power tools, and hand tools.
Knowledge of aluminum systems such as Kawneer, YKK, Oldcastle, or equivalent.
Familiarity with commercial door hardware.
Accurate measuring, setting out, waterproofing, and sealant skills.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
OSHA 10 certification is preferred. Candidates must be willing to obtain it if required.
High school diploma or GED.
Glazing apprenticeships and other relevant vocational training will be viewed positively. Candidates should have their own basic hand tools.
The work involves regularly lifting up to 75 lbs and using ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts. You must also be comfortable standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
Up to $49 per hour, depending on experience.
