Job summary

Qualifications

• A 4-year college degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong experience and technical contribution in a structured team environment, focusing on GIS applications.
• Strong knowledge of GE Smallworld Magik and Python.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns.
• Proven experience in developing scalable and maintainable applications.
• Familiarity with SQL databases, including data modeling, SQL query design, and optimization.
• Experience with automated testing platforms and unit tests.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and fundamental design principles for building scalable applications.

What you'll do

As Senior GIS Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining applications within our GIS platform using GE Smallworld Magik and Python. Key responsibilities include the following:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of GIS projects primarily in Magik but then reimagined in Python.

Our organization follows a hybrid work structure in our service territory (NY & MA) where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed. Salary

Downstate NY $137,000 - $161,000 a year

Massachusetts $129,000 - $151,000 a year

Upstate NY $114,000 - $134,000 a year
