Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior GIS Analyst to lead large, complex GIS projects, manage project teams, and coordinate with non-GIS project managers and clients. You will develop vector and raster spatial analysis models using Spatial ModelBuilder, Python, or other GIS scripting languages, and serve as GIS lead for budget and resource scheduling.

The role requires advanced ArcGIS experience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to HDR's employee‑owned culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Planning, Engineering, Natural Sciences, or closely related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of practical GIS experience; an advanced degree may offset 4 years of experience.
  • Proficient in ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online and extensions (3D Analyst, Spatial Analyst).
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 Apps.
  • Experience with ETL tools (FME) and ArcGIS Notebooks.
  • Experience with Esri Solutions and Products.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; able to summarize analyses with charts and narrative.
  • Ability to lead GIS projects including technical approach, scheduling, and QA.

Responsibilities

  • Independently organize and conduct large, complex GIS analysis projects as Project Manager or GIS technical team leader.
  • Work with non-GIS Project Managers and clients to design and effectively employ GIS on projects.
  • Develop vector and raster spatial analysis models using Spatial ModelBuilder, Python or other GIS scripting languages.
  • Serve as GIS lead for project marketing, budget development and resource scheduling.
  • Prepare quality assurance plans for GIS tasks and oversee their implementation.
  • Supervise other GIS professionals and ensure successful completion of GIS projects or tasks.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Senior GIS Analyst, we'll count on you to:

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in remote sensing, asset management, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Server, or mobile GIS (ArcGIS Mobile, ArcPad) a plus

GISP, AICP, PE or other professional certification a plus

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Planning, Engineering, Natural Sciences, or closely related field

  • Proficient in use of ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS extensions e.g., 3D Analyst, Spatial Analyst etc.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 Apps
  • Experience with ETL tools (FME) and other advanced analyst tools e.g., Arcade, ArcGIS Notebooks
  • Experience with Esri Solutions and Products
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to write reports that summarize spatial analyses and communicate findings with charts, tables, and narrative
  • Ability to serve as a GIS project leader including development of technical approach, scheduling, and quality assurance
  • Continuous technical currency
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must
