GIS Team Lead

Job summary

HNTB in Nashville, TN is seeking a GIS and transportation planning lead to guide the design office in leveraging GIS technology for better planning and design outcomes.

You will supervise staff, coordinate with PMs on GIS projects, build client-ready deliverables and advance data visualization using ArcGIS Online, Power BI, Python and SQL while fostering industry relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering/Geography/Planning or related field, or 10 years of relevant GIS experience.
• 6+ years using ESRI, Intergraph or Bentley software.
• Experience managing staff.
• Experience with State DOTs, and federal, state agencies.
• Experience with large datasets.
• Proficient in ArcGIS Online apps (Dashboards, Survey123, Hub, Experience Builder, StoryMaps).
• Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
• Data governance experience.
• Some familiarity with big data applications.

Responsibilities

• Advises as an expert resource, provides technical guidance to others.
• Provides input in marketing strategies, including capabilities within the team, processes and methodologies used.
• Provides project coordination along with PM on projects with GIS needs, including assigning workloads, estimating hours, defining milestones and quality assurance.
• Creates final media projects including CD-ROMs, hardcopy maps, and documentation.
• Develops key relationships with industry sector leaders within the company.
• Investigates and learns new technologies, especially in the GIS industry.
• Recruits, hires, develops and retains staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession. Coordinates schedules and approves timecards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Geography, Planning or related field and 6 years related experience using ESRI, Intergraph, or Bentley software products, or
• In lieu of degree, 10 years of relevant experience

What We Prefer

• Experience managing staff.
• Experience working with State DOTs, and federal, state agencies.
• Experience working with municipalities, MPOs, and transit agencies.
• Experience with large datasets (statewide, or larger).
• Database administration experience.
• Proficient in ArcGIS Online applications (Dashboards, Survey123, Hub, Experience Builder, StoryMaps).
• Experience with Data Visualization applications/tools (Power BI, Tableau).
• Data Governance experience.
• Experience with Python and SQL.
• Some familiarity with big data applications (Replica, Streetlight, RITIS PDA Suite).
