About the Role Our client, a pioneering company in the exploration and development of geothermal energy resources, is seeking an experienced Senior Geothermal Project Developer to join their globally distributed team. This is a fully remote role, offering an exciting chance to shape the future of clean energy from anywhere. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of geothermal energy projects, from initial resource assessment and feasibility studies through to financing, permitting, and construction oversight. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, business development, and a deep understanding of geothermal technologies and geological assessments. This is a strategic position focused on identifying and advancing promising geothermal prospects into operational power plants.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate potential geothermal resource sites for new project development.
• Conduct detailed feasibility studies, including geological, technical, and economic assessments.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, budgets, and timelines.
• Secure necessary permits and approvals from regulatory bodies.
• Lead negotiations for land leases, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and other key contracts.
• Oversee the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) phases of projects.
• Manage relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and investors.
• Secure project financing through engagement with financial institutions and equity partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Engineering (Geological, Mechanical, Civil), or a related earth science discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in project development, preferably within the renewable energy sector, with a focus on geothermal.
• Proven track record of successfully developing and bringing energy projects to financial close and construction.
• Strong understanding of geothermal exploration techniques, resource assessment, and power plant technologies.
• Excellent project management, negotiation, and business development skills.
• Familiarity with permitting processes and regulatory environments for energy projects.
• Ability to analyze financial models and understand project finance structures.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with experience engaging diverse stakeholders.
