Job summary

Schnabel, an employee-owned engineering firm, seeks a Senior Engineer in Honolulu to lead tunnel, geotechnical, and dam projects. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, manage design and construction, and contribute to Schnabel’s growing Pacific presence.

You will have opportunities to mentor engineers, support business development, and work across Schnabel offices, with periodic travel to project sites. A PE license and 8+ years in design/construction consulting are preferred.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree required in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• 8+ years of design- and/or construction-oriented consulting experience.
• Project management experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel and perform field work.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and design multidisciplinary infrastructure components (tunnels, shafts, stations, retaining walls).
• Develop engineering recommendations and write technical reports.
• Support project managers with coordination and administration.
• Manage projects through concept, design, and construction phases, including budgets and schedules.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams through the design process and communicate with clients and partners.
• Prepare calculations, design reports, plans, specs, and technical memos.
• Develop proposals, scopes of work, and client coordination.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a positive, collaborative culture.
