Job Description

General Responsibilities:

As a Geotechnical Senior Engineer with our West Virginia Transportation Team, you'll assist in providing engineering and consulting services for a variety of transportation projects across West Virginia. Projects may include roadways, bridges, landslides, and airports. Your duties will include supporting the geotechnical department manager with field investigations, engineering analysis and design, calculations, report reviews, project tracking, research, and resolving design and construction issues. You will also communicate complex engineering concepts to clients and project teams.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning and report safety issues to management.
  2. Monitor and improve quality standards and practices on projects.
  3. Ensure consistent quality standards in project and proposal delivery.
  4. Understand project-related risks and adhere to company risk policies.
  5. Provide technical direction for routine and complex projects.
  6. Lead initial design or investigative approaches for major project phases or overall engineering work on moderate scope projects.
  7. Plan, schedule, and coordinate engineering work, including complex features like conflicting design requirements.
  8. Review projects requiring complex investigation techniques and supervise report formulation and recommendations to clients.
  9. Lead technical training and make informed decisions on technology issues.
  10. Mentor and coach key project team members.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 8-11 years of experience.
  • Master's degree in Engineering preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
