Job summary

The AES Corporation is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to provide expert geotechnical support for renewable energy projects, from development through construction and operations. You will focus on foundation design for wind, PV, and large storage facilities, and address a range of geotechnical challenges across multiple projects.

Candidates should have deep knowledge of soil mechanics, site characterization, and design methodologies, with strong communication and leadership skills for

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering is required.
• Minimum 6 years' progressive geotechnical engineering design, analysis, and construction support experience.
• Minimum 2 years' experience with PV solar, wind, battery energy storage, and high-voltage facility design.
• Field experience on large-scale civil/geotechnical projects with QA/QC and construction oversight.

Responsibilities

• Identify geotechnical risks during early project development and provide design and cost estimation recommendations.
• Conduct preliminary site hazard assessments for developments in the planning phase.
• Prepare initial cost estimates for geotechnical investigations and coordinate RFP processes.
• Collaborate with consultants to define scopes of work for geotechnical investigations.
• Finalize investigation scope, cost, and schedule prior to contract award.
• Review geotechnical reports for technical accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
• Advise on design parameters including foundation embedment, earthworks, and geohazard considerations.
• Support due diligence for potential asset acquisitions.
